Therapeutic Massage Therapy
This is the most common massage that is used for prevention and therapeutic treatment of most muscle aches, pains or injuries. For each client the amount of pressure, techniques and approach to each
treatment will be different. The variety of hands-on methods that a therapist uses can stretch and loosen tight muscles, provide more blood flow to an area and improve the removal of waste products
from the body.
Prenatal Massage
Mothers-to-be can benefit from this relaxing full body massage. This massage treatment is suited to any stage of pregnancy and focuses on most complaints that a mom-to-be may be experiencing. With
comfortable pillow positioning, the therapist addresses anything from swelling in the feet, constipation to back ache during the treatment.
As a Doula and mother of two, the experience of natural childbirth is a joyous and difficult process. I can provide relief during labour and support for the mother and family as an added professional
wether Midwives or Medical Doctors are being used.
Hot Stone Massage
is a hydrotherapy treatment that involves heat and dark stones to apply a deep moist heat to the body. The technique for this treatment uses warm stones placed on the clients body and in the
therapist’s hands. The Stones serve different purposes during the treatment, determined by the layout of each stone. The palms of the hands, toes and feet, sinuses, spine, and the 5 Chakra’s are for
bringing balance to the charka centers plus others to massage with. The stones give off heat and electromagnetic energy, virtually feeding the body, and encouraging relaxation and a sense of peace. A
very relaxing treatment for anyone looking for something different to try!
Cranial Sacral Massage
CST is a very light touch technique that releases tension deep in the body to relieve pain and dysfunction to improve the whole body health. It works by freeing the central nervous system to perform
more productively in healing itself from the inside out. The soft tissue and fluid around the brain and spinal cord are what the therapist tries to "tap" into to allow the fluid and tissue to relax
and let go. Conditions that it can help are Migraines, chronic neck and back pain, TMJ syndrome and scoliosis. The sessions are generally deeply relaxing, creating feelings of warmth and gentle
pulsing in the areas that the therapist is working.
Myofascial Release
is a specific technique that engages deeper tissue to alleviate more chronic issues under the surface. It can be extremly helpful in addressing “holding patterns” of muscles and tissues that affect
our posture and regular biomechanics of our bodies. These are caused by everyday activites like working at a computer, driving, and physical labour. Gwen uses little or no oil and applies different
amounts of pressure while letting the tissue respond and release to effectivly let the fascia to let go.
